DMEautomotive Launching Opportunities for Customers to Improve Compliance with New FTC Telemarketing Guidelines

Daytona Beach, FL, August 27, 2009 - Automotive marketing provider DMEautomotive is helping customers [auto dealers] improve compliance with the new Federal Trade Commission (FTC) guidelines taking effect September 1, 2009. In order to protect consumers’ right to privacy, recent amendments to the Telemarketing Sales Rules will restrict non-informational telemarketing calls that deliver prerecorded messages without a consumer’s express written agreement.

DMEautomotive is currently creating new opportunities for dealerships to obtain consent from their customers, such as Personalized URLs that will be distributed through targeted mail and email.

"This new guideline actually opens up many new opportunities for connecting one-on-one with consumers that provide the requisite consent, and DMEautomotive will ensure dealerships are matched with these opportunities while helping them to remain FTC compliant," said Mike Walther, president, DMEautomotive. "We are reassuring our customers that this law only has a limited impact in one type of communication."

DMEautomotive provides numerous communication channels such as targeted mail, email, text and web that are rapidly becoming more and more preferred by consumers in this technologically-friendly world.

The new FTC guideline will continue to allow informational prerecorded calls to be delivered. All informational call scripts have been reviewed for approval and will continue to be delivered. Informational calls that are allowed include:

  • Reminder calls for appointments that have been previously scheduled
  • Advising consumers of appointments that he or she has missed
  • Lease expiration notification
  • CSI Satisfaction Surveys

Customers do not need to worry about their live inbound or outbound call campaigns, as they will not be affected.
